Update: I realized that Lucas Kunce might not be a household name, so I added to the title that he is running against Josh Hawley, a more generally recognizable name.

After getting so roundly drubbed for suggesting that Marjorie Taylor Greene could be replaced, I’m not ready to get beaten up for proposing that Josh Hawley could be tanked. I can dream, can’t I?
I did get some lovely, warm positive responses, and I made the recommended list, but I also was called “breathless, misleading, irresponsible, possibly a plant for the campaign” and more. Honestly, do we need to rake our own over the coals like that? I’m not sure I know why any of us keep trying to reach out.
I understand that people may not always agree with me, but must the disagreement be loaded down with a heaping helping of rude unkindness?
So...back on topic. instead of singing the praises of Lucas Kunce, I’m asking the community for their thoughts. I live in the St. Louis Metro East area, so the races in Missouri are of particular interest to me. Everyone thinks of Illinois as an unremittingly blue state, but southern Illinois is more akin to Missouri than it is to Chicago.
I fell in love hard with Jason Kander when he ran against the odious Roy Blunt. Sadly, Jason lost, but he drew a lot of eyeballs with his “I-can-put-my-gun-together-blindfolded” ad. I cannot regret supporting him, though. Since that election, he has been a community leader on veteran causes and ending voter suppression.
Now comes Lucas Kunce. He aims to unseat the slimy meritless meatbag, Josh Hawley. The day that Missouri sees the last of Josh Hawley will be a red-letter day, indeed. Lucas seems like the real deal, old Missouri roots, a Marine, and a “take names” attitude.
Being a veteran, and coming from a family of veterans, I get stars in my eyes when a Democratic Party veteran runs. I like for Americans to remember that Republicans do not own patriotism, nor are they the only faith community.
Lucas is plain spoken, and he has not hesitated to name Josh Hawley “liar” and “coward”. Lucas has not held back from pointing out Hawley’s corruption and self-dealing, either.
Not to mention that Lucas represents the kind of manliness that Josh Hawley could only fantasize about having when Hawley wrote his ludicrous book on manliness.
Lucas Kunce also claims to have working class roots, and his ads look like he has the receipts. He looks like the real deal, but I hope to hear from some Missouri Kossaks about what they hear on the ground.
I can’t help but dream of the day when we see the end of not only the current crop of abhorrent Republicans, but also see the end of the ethos that has propped them up and allowed them to flourish.
My lips to God’s ears, right?
